These programs and procedures will define occupational and environmental safety and health issues, identify and evaluate effective solutions, and successfully manage appropriate procedures and interventions.OVERVIEW
The responsibility of the Industrial Hygiene section within the Department of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) is to ensure that all individuals at Florida State University (FSU) and the environment are protected against exposure to hazardous situations that could lead to potential harm of personnel, property, or the environment. These responsibilities are addressed through programs aimed at ensuring that the facility and work practices are safe.
Faculty, staff, students, and visitors at all FSU facilities and field sites must protect themselves, the environment, and others by adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The Industrial Hygiene section staff will ensure that appropriate programs are developed to provide management, supervisors, and employees with guidance identifying best practices, conduct routine inspections and investigations, provide training, and other guidance as necessary to maintain a safe workplace.
Departments shall adopt effective safety and health programs which incorporate a framework for setting and reviewing objectives and targets for compliance with laws, regulations, and accepted industry best practices. Such programs shall include requirements for coordination and communication of pertinent job related safety and health requirements to all employees within the department.
