4-OP-C-7-L Employment of Relatives (Nepotism) Policy

Purpose of Policy:  

This policy ensures a fair and measured approach to employment of relatives and avoids the conflicts that can arise from nepotism. The objective of this policy is to emphasize that employment actions will be based on job-related qualifications.

Summary of Changes:

•    Definition of “relative” is updated to include other persons residing in the same household. 
•    Definition of “line of authority” is updated to reflect research related terms (e.g. Principal Investigator, reporting effort). 
•    New section added to detail relationship conflicts in supervising research personnel. 
•    Administration: Added disciplinary action as a possible result of failure to comply with the policy. 
•    Updated Legal support and justification of policy based on research related laws, policies, and standards of conduct.

4-OP-C-4 – Health Services

Purpose of Policy:  

This policy defines eligibility for the use of University Health Services, emergency services and payment issues.

Summary of Changes:

  • Added language to include a one-semester grace period for students enrolled in the immediate past term, which allows the student to continue to receive services.
  • Spouses of eligible students, minor dependents aged 13 and above, and purchasers of the TCC FSU pass were removed as eligible members to receive services.
  • Spouses of eligible students and minor dependents aged 13 and above, are now included as FSU Visitors who are eligible for treatment of minor illness or injury. 
  • Academic dive physicals and nutrition counseling were removed from the list of services available for faculty and staff.
  • Departmentally required immunizations were added to the list of services available to faculty and staff.
  • Spouses and minors are no longer permitted to defer charges to the associated student’s account.

FSU 4-OP-H-13 Electronic Mail Policy  

Summary: This is a policy update providing definitions and basic use, management, handling, public record and retention of electronic mail for all, including employees, students and retirees.

The notice period for each of these policy revisions is August 2 - August 23, 2018.

 

Policy 4-OP-H-13 Electronic Mail Policy

This policy provides requirements and guidelines associated with University email account use and administration by faculty, employees, students, retirees, and all other authorized users. It includes definitions, access by administration and supervisors, and public records and retention requirements.

All questions and/or concerns pertaining to this change should be sent to obs@fsu.edu no later than July 11th, 2018 before 5:00 p.m. eastern standard time.

 

Policy 4-OP-C-7-D13 Perquisites 

  • Deletion of Section (B)(3):  Removing the requirement that another form be submitted to cancel a perquisite. 
  • Updating the policy and form language, formatting, and references to current FSU terminology (like department names) and templates.

Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11 Criminal History Background Checks

  • Stylistic revisions throughout aimed at improving organization and readability.
  • Substantive revisions to match policy language to current background check processes.
  • Expanded how long the results of a previous background check of the same level stay valid before a new check needs to be performed for current employees:  from 90 days, to 1 year.

Policy 4-OP-C-7-G8 License Requirements for Operating University-Owned Vehicles

Clarifies throughout that license validity must be verified through the DMV of the state of issuance.

Section II(1)(d): clarifies that employees must immediately stop driving for work if their license is suspended.

Section II(2):  clarifies that, for employees who don’t drive university vehicles for their job duties, but occasionally drive a university-vehicle, the department is required to check license validity before the individual is permitted to operate a university vehicle.

Policy 4-OP-E-7 Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operation Policy

This policy has been updated to reflect current federal guidelines.  All questions and/or concerns pertaining to this change should be sent to obs@fsu.edu no later than August 4, 2017 before 5:00 p.m. eastern standard time.


OP-C-7-G5 Guidelines for Discipline for USPS AND A&P Employees
This policy will be replaced in its entirety. The replacement policy can be reviewed at OP-C-7-G5. All questions, comments and/or concerns pertaining to this change should be sent to Melanie Welch at mwelch@fsu.edu no later than January 3, 2017, before 5:00PM.

4-OP-C-7-B11 Criminal History Background Checks
A Level 2 Criminal History Background Check will no longer be automatically required for Transportation and Parking employees.  All questions, comments and/or concerns pertaining to this change should be sent to Melanie Welch at mwelch@fsu.edu no later than January 9, 2017, before 5:00PM.

OP-H-12 Information Privacy Policy
This policy has undergone major changes to incorporate current technology and security policies. Notification period ends February 26, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.


OP-H-5 FSU Information Security Policy
This new policy will supersede OP-H-6 Use of University Information Technology Resources, OP-H-9 Information Technology Security, and OP-H-11 Network Access and Use Policy. Notification period ends February 26, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

Once the policy OP-H-5 FSU Information Security Policy has passed the review process, notice is hereby given that the following policies will be superseded: 

  • OP-H-6 Use of University Information Technology Resources
    Notification period ends February 26, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.
  • OP-H-9 Information Technology Security
    Notification period ends February 26, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.
  • OP-H-11 Network Access and Use Policy
    Notification period ends February 26, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

4-OP-C-7-L Nepotism Policy this new policy will supersede the reference to nepotism in 4-OP-C-7-B1 General Employment.
