Florida Statutes, Section 240.227(1)
OBJECTIVE
To provide a consistent procedure for requesting legal opinions or assistance in order to maintain consistency, to appropriately assign workload and to assure that any opinions rendered are done so with the input from the appropriate administrative officer including the Vice President, where necessary.
PROCEDURE
All persons within departments or divisions with potential legal problems must forward such problems to the attention of a designated administrative officer and not directly to the General Counsel's Office, whenever possible. Matters calling for possible legal advice or assistance may be reviewed and presented to the Office of the General Counsel only by designated officers of the University. Situations requiring coordination of projects or programs among several persons other than the Office of the General Counsel will continue to be respected, assuming that only the designated officer shall be primarily responsible for coordinating such matters with that office.
